The data for the chart has been taken from Google Trends and the chart has been inspired by and prepared using the Gapminder tool.

The history of various buzz words over 15 years has been condensed to 15 seconds. I encourage you to ignore the hype and buzz and sit back and think for 15 seconds on what is really happening out there. History is our best teacher and the trends over the last 15 years captured here have an interesting story to tell.

What we do going forward with Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and other future buzzwords is in your hands.

After all, everyone should get a piece of the action…that’s what a democracy is all about and that’s what we need to do in the AI space – democratize the usage of AI across society and business.

Welcome to “democratAIze” – a humble attempt to democratize the (understanding and) use of Artificial Intelligence.

The world is changing at a very fast pace and forces such as Big Data, IoT and AI are fundamentally transforming our lives. This is manifested in several ways – in the manner in which we interact with each other to the way we live to decision making or running business functions.

However, unlike millennials, some of whom even have a natural understanding of such concepts, most of the people are unaware of the mammoth changes that are engulfing us.

Hence, there is a need to develop a common understanding of AI and from there on, there is a need to democratize the usage of AI i.e. to “democratAIze”!

I hope to share my experiences around how a non-techie born in the 1970’s, with no formal education in either engineering or computer science or data science, has grappled with this field and gone on to create award winning products leveraging AI and allied technologies.

More importantly, I hope this platform will allow and inspire many of you to share your experiences and wisdom and help more citizens of an AI-enabled world to thrive and enjoy the benefits bestowed upon mankind by the power of AI.
